My Peculiar Dad

My dad is very peculiar
as peculiar dads can be

he does not speak so much in general
yet talks all the time, to me

a little bit of pride
a lot of contentment
old men sometimes hold on
to a lot of resentment
but not my dad, not he

he is just this pretty man
as pretty a man can be
with a few pockmarks on his forehead
and big round spectacles, to see

He wakes up early
and works very hard

austere love and silent admiration
indulgent love, sometimes to adoration

My dad is very peculiar
as peculiar dads can be

if you ever meet him
you would soon see
what an awesome man
a dad can be.
