a boy
standing on the edge of darkness
a steep cliff, a straight chasm
back, to the world
not needing anything
let’s embrace the chasm
let the warmth of nothingness, touch my cheeks
let the world look after itself
it will only, has only ever, looked after itself
not me.
but wait ! said the chasm
listen,
and the most beautiful music floated from the depths
pleasing, and it touched his heart, his heart lifted,
wet tear drops drifted down and a little drop of joy
dripped from his eyes and nose
he grinned.
maybe there was some joy left in this world
maybe it was worth spending a few more moments
on the edge
